This is how I made the most of today’s sunshine:
Grey Acid Wash Dress- Urban Outfitters
Black Fringed Kaftan- eBay (originally New Look)
Black and Gold Necklace-New Look
Black skater shoes- Internationale (closing down sale, only £1!!)
I’ve been living in these slip on skater shoes, a trend I was keen to jump on, so when I saw these for only one pound I knew I’d found a bargain, and they’re SO comfy!! I would have preferred leather Croc effect ones, but at £1 these will do me just fine! I’ve been trying my hardest to find bargains for the few items I want this season, and making the most of the Spring/Summer items I’ve already got! I’ve really wanted a kaftan too, so I’ll probably buy another colour at some point 🙂
It is unlike Altuzarra to create such a vibrant, colourful collection, but during his show at NYFW yesterday the designer contrasted bright pops of cobalt blue, fuschia pink and orange against his usual, more classic shades, of black, grey, white and cream. The double faced cashmere coats were stand out pieces, with contrasting shades of navy and cobalt blue, as well as the brightly coloured patchwork fur coat, which added a whole new youthful edge to the, usually more formal, collection. Altuzarra usually gives us sophisticated, but sexy, runway looks, which is why it came as a refreshing surprise to see the soft fringe detailing that adorned many of his dresses, skirts and tops in various colourful combinations. As the designer’s most colourful collection to date, it is questionable why he hasn’t been more experimental until now, but it is for certain that his more colourful hues are bound to attract a more youthful customer.
This is part of the outfit I wore for an evening out to celebrate my birthday. I’m wearing a gorgeous lemon yellow fluffy jumper from River Island, a jewelled necklace from Primark and on my lips I have a new colour from The Body Shop from their Colour Crush collection in shade 201 (Red Hot Raspberry). I teamed all this with a simple black clutch, black wedged heels and black textured disco pants!
Ever since Alexa Chung was pictured showing off her personalised locket from Loquet London it was clear that simple, keepsake jewellery was about to make a massive comeback.
But with these beauties costing up to £1000 (they’re filled with personal charms and birthstones) I think they are a little out of my price range. So, instead, I’ll be rocking this trend in true sentimental style- by wearing a locket given to me by my lovely grandmother!
Gone are the days when it was only acceptable for a girl to throw on her boyfriend’s sweater for lazy days around the house, because now a girl can buy an oversized sweater all for herself, wearing it whenever she likes. Okay, so it doesn’t have to be ‘unisex’, you can buy oversized sweaters for women too, but streetwear brands like Kenzo, Patta and Boy London have all echoed that it’s okay for us women to throw on a sweatshirt and look cool; we can now achieve effortless street style by throwing on a sweatshirt (high street or designer) with a pair of rolled up boyfriend jeans and its acceptable. Women are buying sweaters from streetwear brands from the men’s department in order to pull off that casual streetwear vibe, but that obviously doesn’t mean you can’t add a feminine touch or two! Think clashing prints, statement necklaces, a pop of collar underneath or coordinate colours with one of this season’s must have skirt styles!
After eyeing that pretty blue necklace in Accessorize I felt I needed a few new bits of jewellery, and instead of paying £15 for that one necklace I actually ended up paying less than this in Primark for five pretty pieces! Honestly though, my bank balance is lucky I spent such a little amount, because Primark had such nice things in that I actually picked up lots of different items (blue woolen coats, pretty spring tee’s, scarves, disco pants..) but I wisely talked myself out of buying so much, because after all, I did only go in for jewellery!
So, below are the bits I bought…
Finally got my hands on some dainty little midi rings for only £1.50 for a pack of 4!
Another statement necklace to add to my collection, it’ll look great with knits but I especially love the fact that if I wear it with a blouse and tuck it under the collar it will give the illusion of a cool brooch!
I was drawn to the colours of this pretty blue bracelet set, and for only £2, why not?
I thought this was really pretty and the floral design will really add a feminine, Spring/Summer touch to a basic AW knit!
And the fifth item is this embellished hat (okay, so it isn’t jewellery, but it was only a Pound!!) I’m not sure if it really suits me, but the Cara Delevingne hat trend has caught up with me, and I really wanted to try it out!
So, there we have it 5 items for around £13, which is why everyone deep down has a soft spot for Primark 😉
