Chanel’s “Couture Sneakers” – The Novelty Karl Lagerfeld Prepared for You Comes In September

Already seeing these as a street style staple!

A Stairway To Fashion

www.astairwaytofashion.com Karl Lagerfeld’s sneakers for Chanel

In September, Karl Lagerfeld‘s sneakers will become a reality in the stores all over the world. Coming from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, Lagerfeld, with its humour, power and creativity, changed the written laws, combining exquisite couture garments with sportive elements – the reinvented sneakers – that from its classic materials kept only a thick rubber sole, printed with the Chanel famous logo, the double C. The attention to detail and the luxurious materials dedicated to a shoe with a very defined function – sport –   is what makes out of the Chanel sneakers an everyday accessory, able to match with the most sophisticated outfits.

We have 20 different combinations of materials and colours, as well as various models – tweed, velvet, laminate leather, cracked and iridescent in various associations dominated by black and pink, orange, black and gold, red and green, pink and silver…

Bargain Hunting!

Here are a few items that I have purchased on both Ebay and Vinted (a swap and sell app, similar to Ebay) over the last month or so. I’ve found that a lot of high street stores can be quite over priced, which is why I’ve been searching for bargains elsewhere before I commit to buying from the high street. You can find some gems from the high street on Ebay and Vinted anyway, so it is definitely worth having a little look! The only thing I found was that it is very easy to get addicted to bidding on an item, it gets very competitive, which is why some of the items may aren’t neccessarily the cheapest, but I’d like to think I saved some money in the process!

I can’t wait to style this gingham midi skirt! Originally from Primark and only recently retailing for £15, I paid around £8 on Ebay!
20140608_181647
Originally from Miss Selfridge, I paid an amazing price of £3 for this pleated midi skirt! Such a bargain for an on trend skirt!
20140608_181723
Including P&P I paid £9.99 for this over-sized denim jacket that was originally from Topshop!
20140608_181851
I paid around £12 for this lace, fringed kaftan (originally from New Look). I wish I’d paid less for this as I could have bought new for around this price, but I got a little too competitive with my bidding.. oops..

I bought this from Vinted and the best thing about this is that when I signed up for Vinted I received a free £5 voucher.. This skirt was £4.50, and all I had to do was pay £3.70 postage! It is a gorgeous black tulle style midi skirt and I love how versatile it is!

Out in the Sunshine: Outfit of the day

This is how I made the most of today’s sunshine:

Grey Acid Wash Dress- Urban Outfitters
Black Fringed Kaftan- eBay (originally New Look)
Black and Gold Necklace-New Look
Black skater shoes- Internationale (closing down sale, only £1!!)

I’ve been living in these slip on skater shoes, a trend I was keen to jump on, so when I saw these for only one pound I knew I’d found a bargain, and they’re SO comfy!! I would have preferred leather Croc effect ones, but at £1 these will do me just fine! I’ve been trying my hardest to find bargains for the few items I want this season, and making the most of the Spring/Summer items I’ve already got! I’ve really wanted a kaftan too, so I’ll probably buy another colour at some point 🙂

Spotted: The Floor Length Kimono

I absolutely loved the black, full length Kimono worn by Kendall Jenner at Coachella-it’s bought a whole new edge to what I’ll be wearing this Spring/Summer.. how great is it to have a light cover up that still adds a touch of glam to a look?

I’ve found a few great variations, so here are some for you guys to choose from.. Enjoy!

There is definitely some serious tropical summer vibes from this one! (River Island- £60).
My absolute favorite of them all- just waiting for payday to buy this beauty (Pretty Little Thing £25).
Image 1 of ASOS Tropical Print Fringed Beach Kimono
Not quite full length, but this is perfect for those who want a bit of a shorter Kimono style, and the print is gorgeous! (ASOS £32)
Ark Black Kymm Floral Long Kimono main image
This sheer black, almost floor length Kimono is bought to life through pretty floral detailing! (Ark £19.99)

(And as a side note, I found it quite annoying that River Island didn’t show the Kimonos on a model.. I assumed ‘long line’ meant around about knee length or longer, but there is no way of knowing for sure until you order it..but nevertheless they are great designs and colours, so its not all bad 😀 )

Coachella 2014: A few favourite looks

Love the mesh detailing and cool blue tones in this look!
Love how cool and casual this look is!
A pretty twist on the floral headpieces usually seen at festivals!
Kendall Jenner looked amazing in this all black outfit- I especially love the long, lace Kimono!
I love the off the shoulder detail- it looks so feminine with the soft crochet and neutral tones!

Obviously none of these pictures are my own (boo, I wasn’t lucky enough to attend) and all have come from various websites 🙂

Gail Sorronda at Australia Fashion Week: Mermaids Exist

Australian designer Gail Sorronda kicked off the second day of Australian Fashion Week with a collection, aptly named ‘Mermaids Exist’, that boasted collaborations with both Disney and Queensland Ballet for a Little Mermaid inspired collection. Unlike other ‘Under the Sea’ inspired collections ( see Kenzo, for example) there was a softer approach at this show-with light tulle and sheer materials, we saw elegance and femininity. This isn’t to say that there weren’t lots of obvious hints towards The Little Mermaid though, because we were given skirt shapes that gave the illusion of fishtails, glistening sequin detailing for a glamorous hint towards scales and an even bigger hint was the cartoon print of Ariel, Sebastian and lots of other sea life across the blank canvas of an all white outfit . Not only did we see light, neutral creams and whites, but Sorronda cleverly incorporated lobster red hues and a bright turquoises that were all reminiscent of The Little Mermaid story we know and love! Even accessories were on point, from jewellery that resembled coral, sea weed and driftwood, to structured crown detailing!

I definitely ❤ this collection-who knew mixing Disney and Fashion could come off so well?
